The Future of Housing

The Arcane Bundle, possibly the most controversial bundle that the Spiral has ever encountered hit the shelves of local stores a few weeks ago. With the ability to take castle building blocks and model an entire building structure, it has definitely revamped the way we look at housing. Down to the core of this bundle, it was Kingsisle’s goal to give us a house in which we are not limited as to how it looks or where it’s placed, as now we have the control. What will this new feature bring us in the world of housing? In today’s blog post, The Spiral’s Geographic Society takes a look into what the arcane bundle can mean for creative and decorative wizards, as well as general housing ideas that may come in the future of Wizard101/Pirate101.
One of the thing’s that interested me as I found out about this bundle was the fact that the entire castle can be remodeled to our liking. I thought this was a sick idea, but will this be expanded onto housing items as well? If the choice to change a housing item from it’s original state does happen, I’m sure it will only happen with things that have simple or single textures, such as wallpapers and tiles. Similar to moving the bundle around, one will be able to take a wallpaper or tile to the dye shop, and add either a color scheme or a pattern to it. With a variety of patterns and colors to choose from, houses will be forever unique. An example of what I mean can be found to the left.

Isn't it cool? With this feature, we will be able to use our favorite decorative items in themes they weren't necessarily made for. For instance, I can love the way the way the vine wallpaper looks, but doesn't necessarily match the theme I am going for in my house. In solution, I can dye it a color that can blend with the other housing items. Of course, colorizing every wallpaper and tile to each colorization will not be easy on Kingsisle's part. We also have the dilemma with wallpapers that have multiple patterns/colors, so changing it's color will won't necessarily work, so this feature will only work for wallpapers and tiles with simple patterns that can be evidently colored. I could imagine that wallpapers that are easy to colorize (like the one above) may have a distinction, like a check, displaying that it can be dyed. Wallpaper's that have immense amount of details, like the ones from Zafaria for instance, will not be open to the feature.

Something else that came to mind when exploring the possibilities of housing was implementing a weather system into the game. We have the Arcane Bundle in which you can have 3 possible times of day, so why not have a weather system as well? This will work very simply. So the situation with the Arcane Bundle doesn't happen again (in which people were upset that you had to purchase each bundle in order to get the better scenery), there will be a drop in game that will let you change the weather that is happening in your house. This will vary from a storm to sunshine, or a sandstorm to wind being seen around your house. Because of the themes each house holds, certain weather features cannot be accessed in certain houses. For instances, we will not have rainfall in a Fire House, as we know what happens to fire when coming in contact with water.. Let's just say if that happened to Falmea, her hairdo would be all messed up.

Speaking of water, maybe one day fishing will expand to our backyards. Bodies of waters can be bought, and we can look for fishies in the our own houses. But for now, we are left with the vast possibilities of Kingsisle's creativity. Any of these things are probable, but I couldn't have thought that something like the Arcane Bundle would come out, so we are left to wonder!

Question of the Week: Which housing feature would you like to see in your house? Comment below!

I love this idea. I've submitted that we should have furniture and carpet that could be dyed. Wouldn't it be nice to have furniture that wasn't blue, red, or wood? Great idea on the weather too :)
